Golf Club Prices, Up or Down in 2010?
These are the latest results I could find on the web furnished by the Business Times of Singapore. They are prices as of last October 2009. Does anyone know if prices have continued to climb? or levelled off? in the past few months?
It seems that most golf and country clubs have yet to reach their 2007 / 2008 highs, if they will ever return to those levels. For clubs such as Keppel, membership prices may have been depressed because of news that it has to vacate its premises in 10 years time. Rumors continue to abound as to where Keppel members will have to play their golf in the future, but in the meantime, the course being in a prime location is still highly sought after by members and non-members alike, giving it a very healthy balance sheet.
Similarly, at Jurong Country Club and Changi Golf, prices are low because of the need to upgrade (translate: higher monthly fees). Having said that, at S$6,000 for a membership at Changi's nine (9) hole course, it seems like a steal for those who don't want to shell out a lot of money but just want to be part of a club. This would be the best choice, especially if you live in the Eastern part of Singapore.
